Summer Olympics 2024, Paris: How my astrological predictions went
With the Summer Olympics 2024 coming to an end, here’s a brief look at the astrological predictions made by me for the late June to late September 2024 period, and how successful they were:
Australia
Prediction: "The country could receive very good success in the world of sport from August 2024 onwards."
What happened: Australia had its best-ever Olympics. It ended on the medal table at 4th place, with a whopping 18 golds amid a total of 53 medals.
United Kingdom
Prediction: "Success in sports and entertainment spheres could be mediocre or mixed during this period. However, any sporting events involving the water (e.g., sailing and swimming) could see good success."
What happened: "It was a mixed Games for Team GB, who finished seventh, their lowest finish since 2004," in the words of the Guardian. However, GB did indeed do well in water-related sports, with 28 of its 65 medals coming from such sports.
Canada
Prediction: "The country may show surprising results in some of the sporting activities."
What happened: The country had an excellent games, and it won medals in activities it wasn't expected to win: first ever medals in fencing and women's pole vault; and after 120 years in throwing, after 60 years in men's 800m, after 28 years in boxing, after 24 years in tennis, after 16 years in taekwondo, since they last won medals in these.
Brazil
Prediction: "The country may receive mixed (overall decent) success in the world of sport or entertainment."
What happened: The country got 20 medals (around the same number of medals as always), including 3 golds, but which was much lower than the 7 golds it got in both 2016 and 2020 Olympics.
South Africa
Prediction: "Decent success in the sporting and entertainment world during this period for the country."
What happened: The country won 6 medals in total (3 more than last time), including 1 gold (same as last time).
Türkiye
Prediction: "The country may receive good, unexpected success in the world of sport.... I expect an excellent medal tally at the Games for the country."
What happened: While shooter Yusuf Dikeç became a viral sensation in the world, the medal tally for Turkey wasn't great, failing to win a single gold. I misread the popularity for success in medals.
France
Prediction: "The country ... may not do well in the world of sport during this period."
What happened: While France did win several medals, with it being the host helping its medal tally, “a small black note, however: the low number of gold medals [for France]. With 16 of them, it’s a record, but Les Bleus lost lots of finals and that has some way to improve,” according to Europe 1.
United States
Prediction: "The U.S. may not have as good a Summer Olympics as it might be anticipating. May not come right on top of the medal table."
What happened: Here I was somewhat off the mark. The U.S. did have a good Olympics, though not at the 2012 or 2016 levels. On the final day of the Games, it could inch its way to the top of the table, overtaking China.
